Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has become a huge box office success in its first weekend. The James Gunn-directed film is on its way to becoming one of Marvel Studios’ most watched films, and it’s not doing badly critically either. Many place it as the best Marvel movie since Avengers: Endgame, and its music has once again been praised for its quality.

But those who have already seen this latest film will have noticed that it is different from the previous ones. Despite keeping the same team and having a similar adventure, this film focuses a lot on the character of Rocket Raccoon, the soul of the group since the beginning of the Guardians. While Star-Lord is the leader, Rocket has always been one of the most beloved by all, and here we finally get to see his origins.

In the film, James Gunn takes us to Rocket’s earliest childhood, when he was taken while still a baby to experiment with him and turn him into the intelligent being he ends up being. Of course, going through all kinds of tortures and making him end up taking dozens of traumas along the way.

PETA loves Rocket Raccoon

Rocket’s story has touched the hearts of everyone who has seen Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and has even struck a chord with an organization that knows what Gunn is talking about in this film: PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).

The organization that advocates for animal rights has spoken out about the film. Through their social networks, they have published a post in which they make it clear how much they liked the film, and explain how Rocket is based on the laboratory animals they experiment with.

Did you catch the animal rights message in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? The final film in Marvel’s trilogy reminds viewers that animals suffering from these pointless experiments are individuals who deserve respect, compassion and freedom.

There is no doubt that PETA’s support was something that neither James Gunn nor Marvel Studios saw coming. However, support is appreciated when things are done right, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been done very, very well.
