DL2 update brings Dying Light 2’s Payday 2 crossover, DL points, and more

Techland’s Dying Light 2 continues its thrilling “Summer of Horrors” with the latest update that introduces an exciting Payday 2 crossover event and a brand-new DL Points system. This update not only promises action-packed gameplay but also provides players with new ways to customize their experience.

Dying Light 2’s Payday 2 crossover event: Infected Robbers and Red Diamonds

The highlight of this update is undoubtedly the Payday 2 crossover event, a surprising choice given the imminent release of Payday 3. In this thrilling event, players will find themselves facing infected robbers sporting Dallas’ iconic clown mask, complete with the American flag. The objective? Steal red diamonds from these menacing foes while chasing down infected bolters.

Participating in the event and securing just one red diamond will reward players with special UV lights. For those who manage to collect 40 red diamonds, a wearable Dallas mask awaits. And for the most dedicated survivors who snatch up 150 red diamonds, a valuable weapon blueprint resembling a stack of money, will be their prize.

Suppose the community collectively acquires 11 million red diamonds before the event concludes on September 21 at 7 a.m. PT. In that case, every participant will receive 25 Pilgrim Tokens, which can be used to purchase essential equipment.

DL Points system: A new way to customize your experience

One of the most significant additions in this update is the introduction of DL Points, a currency that allows players to purchase skin bundles directly within the game. While Dying Light 2 already featured cosmetic bundles, the DL Points system streamlines the purchasing process, eliminating the need to leave the game to acquire these bundles. Currently, there are five bundles available, ranging from $4.99 to $49.99.

To sweeten the deal, Techland is offering 500 DL Points to every player who logs in before October 7, enabling them to explore this new system. However, the Payday bundle, priced at 550 DL Points, includes a Payday gang outfit, a legendary hammer resembling money, an artifact blueprint shaped like a stack of cash, a paraglider adorned with Dallas’ mask, and a bundle of money that can serve as a formidable blunt weapon.

Addressing concerns: Techland’s response

Despite the excitement surrounding these updates, some fans have expressed negative sentiments about the introduction of DL Points. Techland was quick to respond by releasing a comprehensive FAQ to address player concerns. The company clarified that DL Points not only streamline the purchase process but also reduce the effort needed to add bundles to various storefronts. Furthermore, many bundles offer bonus DL Points, providing players with cost-saving opportunities.

Techland has also removed existing skin bundles on PlayStation, integrating them into the in-game storefront. This transition will be extended to other platforms in the future. The studio is actively exploring alternative ways for players to earn DL Points and is open to player feedback. It’s worth noting that Techland’s partnership with Tencent is unrelated to these recent changes.

Additional exciting features

Beyond the Payday 2 crossover event and DL Points system, this Dying Light 2 update introduces several other exciting features. Players can enjoy new knife animations, adjust the game’s gore level with a toggle, skip the prologue for a faster start, explore community-made maps on consoles, and engage with a new modifier called Alterations, designed to inject more vibrancy and fun into the game. Players can opt to disable these modifiers if they prefer the original experience.

In conclusion, Techland’s latest update for Dying Light 2 brings a captivating Payday 2 crossover event and a convenient DL Points system, along with a slew of other enhancements and additions. While some players may have initial reservations, Techland’s efforts to address concerns and improve the overall gaming experience show their commitment to evolving and expanding the Dying Light 2 universe. Players can look forward to countless hours of thrilling gameplay and customization options as they venture deeper into the world of Dying Light 2.
