Exoborne, the new extraction shooter from Sharkmob, recently had an open beta that introduced us to an intriguing concept in the gaming landscape. In this title, players constantly face the dilemma of risking their gear during each match, with the possibility of losing everything they carry if they are eliminated. However, successfully extracting loot from other players can translate into valuable rewards, promoting a gameplay experience that combines risks and gratifications.
The game adopts a game-as-a-service model, suggesting a constant flow of updates and events. This not only promises to maintain interest, but also encourages competition through the implementation of a progression system that rewards the constant improvement of weaponry and skills.
A game with a very marked peculiarity
A distinctive aspect of Exoborne is its weather dynamics: the weather changes during the match, affecting players’ strategies. Storms and other weather phenomena provide tactical advantages, such as the ability to move quickly across the map. This dynamic approach is complemented by a customization system for exoskeletons, known as Exo-Rigs, which allow users to adapt their play style.
While it is a shooter that does not reinvent the genre, its premise is based on evoking sensations that encourage players to return, trying different weapons and completing missions. Although it currently lacks a specific release date on PC and consoles, it is speculated that it may be released in Early Access sometime in 2025. And it could end up being one of the most interesting games of this year.
