Brawl Stars is one of the most popular competitive mobile games in the world. Easy to understand, but difficult to master, it has everything necessary to be as popular as it is. In addition to crazy collaborations, it is visually appealing, easy to get into, and offers constant rewards and frenetic matches where nothing is decided until the last minute. It’s not a game that requires weeks to master, but is enjoyable from the first minute.
Assuming you already understand the basics of the game, let’s delve into things that may seem obvious, but are not. Not all Brawlers are created equal. Each character has their own characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses, which is why it’s important to know them well. Be flexible, try different Brawlers, and discover their strengths and weaknesses. Try to learn which one suits your play style best, but also how all of them work. Even if you don’t end up playing those Brawlers, knowing how they work will help you when you face them on the battlefield.
Knowing where to strike is important
An important detail that is easy to overlook is the hitboxes. The places where an attack connects with a Brawler and deals damage. The hitboxes are indicated by the ring at the Brawler’s feet, not by the Brawler’s model itself. This is not an issue for most characters, but some have a larger hitbox than their Brawler, such as Sandy, 8-Bit, or Pam, so keep this in mind when attacking or dodging when playing against or with them.
Similarly, stay aware of how long it takes for your Brawler’s attacks to reach their target. Are your attacks slow? Then you should aim beyond the rival Brawler, and not at the Brawler itself, especially if it is moving. This will save you many headaches and wondering why you are not hitting anything when you should be, especially if you play the heavier units.
It is no less important to know how to move
Just as you must be aware of attacks, you must be aware of your defenses. Brawlers heal when they are not being shot or hit, so retreating in time can be the difference between victory and defeat. The same applies to trying to dodge opponents’ attacks. In the case of slower attacks, moving sideways can make them miss their shots, particularly because, as we’ve taught you, your opponents will shoot not at your Brawler, but a little further away from it. This would make retreating backward the wrong response.
Although all of these are very basic tips, if you are just starting to play or can’t quite see how to advance in the game’s ranking, all of this should be of great help to improve your way of playing. There are many more things you can do to improve, but mastering these tips is essential if you want to take your first steps in the wild and fun world of Brawl Stars.
