How to use Zapier to automate your boring tasks

Create a Zapier account

Getting started: Firstly, you’ll need a Zapier account. It’s free to sign up, and you’ll get five free zaps when you join. You can remain free for good or sign up for other price plans for different types of businesses, which will allow you to automate more. One option is a free 14-day trial. 

Make a Zap

The next thing to do is create a zap. Log into your account, and you’ll see a MAKE A ZAP box on the left.

Connect apps

Now you have to tell Zapier which apps you’d like to connect. 

For instance, the first example on our list above of things you can do is turn emails into Trello cards. So you’ll name your Zap, then name your trigger as New Email Matching Search in Gmail and your Action as Create Card in Trello. Once you set up your zap, Zapier will frequently check the trigger for new data. Zapier will automatically carry out the action you have set up if the zap is triggered. You don’t have to do anything. Your data will move seamlessly from one app to the other one that’s linked to it.

Create templates

Zapier also allows you to create templates for zaps that you use often. It features an explore section where you can look at various Zap templates for the different apps you want to link to use in your automation. When you’ve selected the apps you want to connect, look at the available zap templates and then click Use this Zap.
