Would you love to play more video games but barely have any time? As the years go by, life becomes more complex and finding time to play is not as easy as it used to be. Luckily, now more than ever, you have access to amazing games that you can enjoy in short sessions. As short as a couple of hours.
If that sounds good to you, below we leave you ten games of very varied genres and with one thing in common: their short duration.
Portal (3 hours – PC)
If you like puzzles, Portal might be your ideal game. Valve’s game is based on the portal gun, which allows us to create two interconnected portals on specific surfaces. With the help of this tool, we will have to solve a series of ingenious challenges while escaping from the Aperture Science facilities. Although it’s been a while (it came out in 2007), it’s a real gem that you should try.
Gato Roboto (3.5 hours – Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC)
Gato Roboto is a cute platform and adventure game developed by Doinksoft. Here, we take control of a cat named Kiki who, after a space accident, must rescue his human captain. It is an entertaining metroidvania experience with a retro black and white aesthetic. Despite its simplicity, Gato Roboto is a fun, creative, and nostalgic adventure all at once.
Little Nightmares (3.5 hours – PS4, Xbox One, PC)
Little Nightmares is an indie gem that will captivate you from the first moment. In this dark and fascinating world, you will take on the role of Six, a girl who must escape from The Maw. Highly recommended especially if you like disturbing adventures and puzzles.
Little Kitty, Big City (2.5 hours – Nintendo Switch)
Cat lovers, this is your moment. Games like Stray have already shown how interesting it can be to step into the paws of cats, and Little Kitty, Big City is another example of that. It is a charming third-person adventure title that allows us to climb, run, and slide through rooftops and streets of all kinds while completing different missions. Its accessible mechanics and short duration make it an ideal game for all audiences.
Journey (2 hours – PS3, PS4, PC)
In Journey, we will take on the role of a solitary traveler wandering through the desert as we pursue a goal: reaching the top of the mountain that can be seen on the horizon. One of the strengths of Journey is its artistic section: as we progress, we will encounter beautiful landscapes, complemented by an incredible soundtrack.
What Remains of Edith Finch (2 hours – PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS)
We continue with another quite calm title. If you like more narrative experiences, it is likely that What Remains of Edith Finch will become one of your favorite games. Its emotional story will captivate you from the moment you start playing, thanks to its curious way of blending gameplay and narrative. And it is that its melancholic tale based on family and loss will make you not want to leave the couch for a while.
A Short Hike (1.5 hours – PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC)
Exploration and interaction with the environment: these are the two keys of A Short Hike. Here we take on the role of Claire who, while heading to the top of the mountain, will encounter other very diverse characters whom she can help. Accessible and easy to play, it is perfect for those who want to take a break with a more relaxing experience.
Firewatch (4 hours – PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC)
Set in the summer of 1989, we step into the shoes of Henry, a man who has taken a job as a fire lookout in the Wyoming wilderness. Your only company throughout the game is Delilah, whom you communicate with via radio. Focused on exploration and decision-making, it is a beautiful game that also stands out for its story.
Streets of Rage 4 (3 hours – PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS)
Streets of Rage 4 is a return to the iconic beat’em up game series that captivated thousands of kids during the 90s. It takes place 10 years after the events of Streets of Rage 3 and brings together classic characters like Axel Stone, Blaze Fielding, and Adam Hunter. Here, the essence of the original series remains intact: advancing through levels infested with enemies using clean punches.
Sayonara Wild Hearts (1.5 hours – PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, iOS)
Sayonara Wild Hearts could be described as an interactive musical experience. Here we follow a young person with a broken heart who must restore balance to a rather surreal world through rhythm mechanics. Quite something. Essentially, it is a very fun runner with an incredible soundtrack, perfectly synchronized with the on-screen action.
