A few days ago, the hacker group Rhysida managed to obtain a large amount of material from Insomniac, the studio responsible for the recent Marvel’s Spiderman 2. Through a ransomware attack, the cybercriminals were able to obtain videos showing gameplay of Marvel’s Wolverine, a roadmap with the studio’s plans, animations, and much more.

After several days of silence, Insomniac has posted a statement on their X profile, where they explain the difficult situation the studio is currently facing.

In said statement, Insomniac begins by thanking the community for the support received: “we are very sad and angry about the recent criminal cyberattack that our studio has suffered […] During these past few days, we have focused on supporting each other. We are aware that the stolen data includes personal information belonging to our employees, former employees, and external hires. These also include details about the early stages of development of Marvel’s Wolverine for PlayStation 5. We are still working to determine how much data has been affected.

As the writing progresses, they emphasize how “stressful” this experience has been for the studio and its workers: “we want everyone to be able to enjoy the games we develop as they have been planned and as our players deserve. Just like Logan… Insomniac is resilient. Marvel’s Wolverine will continue according to our intentions. The game is in a very early stage of production and we have no doubt that the game will evolve satisfactorily throughout development.”

The first official announcement of Marvel’s Wolverine came in September 2021. Currently, the game is scheduled to be released in 2024, but it does not have a release date yet.
