Few Spanish films have made such a big impact internationally as El Hoyo. Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia’s film achieved the greatest milestone that any science fiction film can achieve: winning the Sitges Film Festival. And, to make matters even more impressive, when it arrived on Netflix it became an unparalleled success, reaching the fifth place in the non-English language films category on the platform with almost 83 million views.
It was clear that a phenomenon of this magnitude was not going to remain just an anecdote, so Netflix put all its machinery to work on a sequel to The Platform. Now, we can see the first images of The Platform 2 in a trailer that promises to take the horror to this already macabre tale. Without a doubt, the trailer gives you goosebumps from the very first second:
The Platform 2 coincides its premiere with the Sitges Festival
The protagonists of The Platform 2 will be Milena Smit (Parallel Mothers, Cross the Line) and Hovik Keuchkerian (Money Heist, Red Queen), two great figures well known on Netflix. As for the premise, it is as follows: “A mysterious figure has managed to establish a new law in The Platform, but can justice be imposed in hell? Who will watch over its fulfillment?”. It arrives on Netflix on October 4, just in time for the Sitges Film Festival.
