The game titled Blades of Fire, developed by the Madrid-based studio MercurySteam, will be released on May 22, 2025, on platforms such as PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. This announcement has generated excitement, especially considering that MercurySteam is known for its work on iconic titles such as Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and the latest Metroid games from Nintendo.
A game with very deep and original mechanics
Blades of Fire promises to offer an innovative combat system that allows players to forge their own weapons. These mechanics not only influence the combat style but also the durability and characteristics of the weapons, providing a more personalized experience. Players will be able to choose from seven weapon families and over 30 scrolls to customize their creations, resulting in virtually infinite combinations that will affect the game’s action.
The protagonist of the game, Aran de Lira, faces a curse imposed by a newly crowned queen. Accompanied by a companion named Adso, who will assist him in battle, Aran must confront more than 50 types of enemies. The game’s narrative has been specially crafted for this installment, capturing the essence of the classic Blade: The Edge of Darkness, with influences also drawn from the acclaimed God of War saga.
Players who reserve Blades of Fire will receive additional content, including two extra outfits and useful materials, as well as a 10% discount on the final price. With its challenging combat and elaborate lore, Blades of Fire is set to become one of the great surprises in the Spanish video game scene in 2025, and fans are eager to put MercurySteam’s forges to the test.
