The spooky season has arrived, bringing with it all kinds of horror movies and series to terrify the general public this October. From Salem’s Lot, newly added to Max, to the upcoming Smile 2, which will premiere on October 18, it’s clear that horror filmmakers are getting to work to offer their own visions of the genre.

Now, the original series Sweetpea from the Starz platform has just been released. Starring Ella Purnell, whom we know very well thanks to Fallout and Arcane, the series has more of a thriller and dramatic comedy tone. The thing is, its plot is entirely terrifying, as it follows a serial killer in the purest American Psycho style.

From Oblivion to Psychosis

Sweetpea is based on the eponymous novel by C.J. Skuse, which follows the story of Rhiannon Lewis (Ella Purnell), a woman who is often invisible to others and overlooked by everyone. Neither on the street nor at her job, and practically not even in her family, does anyone seem to notice her presence, and the fact that her crush ignores her and her father is going through a serious illness does not help her self-esteem at all.

That is why, overwhelmed by the pressure and tired of going unnoticed, Rhiannon loses control and unleashes an empowered woman within her who, incidentally, is also a rampant killer. But will she be able to hide this new side of herself for long?
