Windows update fixes critical vulnerabilities in almost all versions of the OS

This month’s Microsoft Patch Tuesday, when the company updates and patches its software, includes some critical security fixes. All versions of Windows are affected, from Windows Server 2003 to Windows 8.1.

The discovered vulnerability could allow code to be remotely executed, so a criminal could potentially exploit it to attack your computer. No such exploits have been discovered yet, but its advisable to apply the patch as soon as possible.

This month’s update also fixes a problem with Internet Explorer versions 8, 9, 10 and 11.

You’ll get these security patches automatically if you use the Windows automatic update feature. Otherwise, you can do the update manually by running Windows Update, which will allow you to download and install them. Automatic updates are easiest, otherwise you have to check every Patch Tuesday to update Windows yourself.
