We make the AI imagine the perfect casting of Game of Thrones: you won’t believe who Tyrion is
Of course, it would be a much more terrifying series....

Considering that HBO Max has changed its platform forever and will now be called Max, we have been doing all kinds of tests for a few days about what could come after the Harry Potter reboot as a series. Thus, we have tested what a remake of Twilight could be like as a TV series for Max and even -this is just for fun- what The Avengers would be like if there was a reboot of the saga. So today it’s time for Game of Thrones.
The process is as follows: first we asked ChatGPT what would be the perfect casting for the main characters of the series. It’s not that something very logical always comes out, but I have to say that in general OpenAI’s Artificial Intelligence usually has good ideas or, at least, curious ones. Then we move on to Stable Diffusion to translate them into “reality” -or, well, as close as the platform can get- and that’s when the nightmare comes.
From a Tom Hardy Hulk to a Timothy Chalamet Edward Cullen, the results are pretty amazing. So the moment of truth arrives: what does the AI tell us about a perfect cast for Game of Thrones? Let’s do the test, although I already tell you that some of them, like Daenerys or Tyrion, are to throw your hands on your head.

Creating the perfect Game of Thrones casting with AI
The first thing we did was to ask ChatGPT which actors he imagines in the main roles of Game of Thrones. As there are a million characters in this series, we have focused on 20 of the main ones, although it already makes it clear where the shots would go.
We have detailed what we specifically want so that the OpenAI tool doesn’t get lost. But his proposals are… curious. We leave you with the conversation we had:
Create the perfect, all-new casting for a reboot of Game of Thrones. I need the perfect actors for: Ned Stark, Jon Snow, Arya Stark, Bran Stark, Sansa Stark, Jaime Lannister, Cersei Lannister, Tyrion Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, Joffrey Baratheon, Melisandre, Brienne of Tarth, Margaery Tyrell, Oberyn Martell, Ramsay Bolton, Petyr Baelish, Varys, Sandor Clegane “The Hound,” Samwell Tarly and The Night King.
- Ned Stark: Viggo Mortensen
- Jon Nieve: Taron Egerton
- Arya Stark: Elle Fanning
- Bran Stark: Timothée Chalamet
- Sansa Stark: Florence Pugh
- Jaime Lannister: Tom Hiddleston
- Cersei Lannister: Charlize Theron
- Tyrion Lannister: Eddie Redmayne
- Daenerys Targaryen: Emma Stone
- Joffrey Baratheon: Charlie Heaton
- Melisandre: Tilda Swinton
- Brienne de Tarth: Rebecca Ferguson
- Margaery Tyrell: Emma Watson
- Oberyn Martell: Oscar Isaac
- Ramsay Bolton: Nicholas Hoult
- Petyr Baelish: Benedict Cumberbatch
- Varys: Chiwetel Ejiofor
- Sandor Clegane “El Perro”: Tom Hardy
- Samwell Tarly: John C. Reilly
- El Rey de la Noche: Javier Bardem
Casting the Game of Thrones reboot with Artificial Intelligence
Once we have the “perfect” casting according to ChatGPT, we turned to Stable Diffusion to see what these actors would look like playing their respective medieval characters. And, well, the occasional image is salvageable… and we’d certainly love to see what actors like Oscar Isaac or Tom Hiddleston would look like in the series.
However, most of the results are very, very weird. And they make it pretty clear that, despite being on the right track, AI still has a long way to go before it can match the human mind… or at the very least that of a casting director.
