Unity is a popular graphics engine, and has just announced a new version, Unity 5, with a raft of screenshots showing the impressive levels of detail possible. While it’s primarily a developer tool it will usher in better looking games and apps for users.
Unity has been especially successful in making browser games that are closer to desktop or console games in terms of graphics. It’s a plugin you need to install in your browser, and it allows you to play some great looking games. Check out the trailer, showing off Unity 5 in action, and some screenshots below.

Unity is behind games like Temple Run, Slender: The Eight Pages, Surgeon Simulator, Mojang’s Scrolls, and personal favorite Off Road Velociraptor Safari.
You can download the Unity web player here for Mac or Windows. It works in Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera.
Unity 5 is expected for release in mid-2014.
