What's the deal, Gunn?

James Gunn and Peter Safran are turning the DC Comics Universe upside down to create their new universe, which will start from scratch and forget (almost) everything Zack Snyder has done in recent years. For now, they have ten projects planned, including movies, live-action series, and animated series. But recently, it was also announced that Blue Beetle would be part of that universe.
The release of this movie, which is not exactly a box office hit but has won over the critics, has raised concerns among some DC fans. In Blue Beetle, there is a reference to Superman; the protagonist, Jaime Reyes, implies that he knows the superhero, but it’s not clear whether it’s Henry Cavill’s version or David Corenswet’s.
Is Superman young or not?
Gunn has announced that Blue Beetle belongs to his new universe, so it’s logical that the Superman referred to in Blue Beetle would be the upcoming one from Superman Legacy. However, this contradicts quite a bit with the main idea we had heard about this movie; that it would bring us a young and relatively unknown Superman.
Through Threads, Gunn has been asked about this, and the director quickly clarified the rumors: “I’ve never developed a ‘young’ Superman movie, just a Superman movie!” This makes it clearer that Superman is already known in this universe, though it raises new questions about the recasting of the character instead of sticking with Cavill.

As explained by Peter Safran, Legacy “focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. Superman represents truth, justice, and the American way. He is kindness in a world that deems it old-fashioned.”
