Sony has released the PlayStation app for Android and iOS in the US, to coincide with the release of the PlayStation 4 console. It allows you to connect with your PlayStation Network friends, use ‘second screen’ features and more.
‘Second Screen’ means you can use your mobile while playing certain games. Much like the Nintendo Wii-U or DS systems, the second screen will be used to offer more control, maps and other useful information. It won’t give you as much functionality as a Vita connected to a PlayStation 4, but it’s still pretty useful.

The PlayStation app also lets you check out the Store. You can buy games and DLC, and even push them to your PlayStation 4 so it downloads them while you’re away. Game manuals and instructions are accessible from the app too.
You can chat to your PSN contacts, as well as checking up on their trophies and progress in the games they are playing.
Download the PlayStation app for iOS or Android. It is expected to be released in Europe on November 22nd.
