For many of us, Starfield is one of those games that makes 2023 truly special. Anticipated by millions of players for nearly a decade, we are just days away from experiencing its launch. Will Bethesda’s title live up to the expectations?
And like any anticipated game, we’ve been seeing previews, trailers, and videos of the game for years. At different E3 events, Gamescom, and Xbox conferences. And if there’s one tradition in the industry, it’s that as the release date approaches, the game tends to look worse. This is commonly referred to as a downgrade.
However, today a new comparative video of Starfield has been shared online, highlighting the significant visual improvements in the game’s opening sequence compared to last year’s version. For the first time, we’re witnessing an upgrade.
A comparison that surprises us all
The comparison, shared on Twitter by @Kjovian and created by MartinTheTrue, shows how virtually all visual elements, from lighting to textures and animations, have been significantly improved, resulting in a much sharper and pleasing image.
Similar to other recent Bethesda games, Starfield is set to be a massive open-world game, but it seems the final game could exceed most players’ expectations in terms of size and playtime.
During yesterday’s official Xbox Gamescom livestream, Pete Hines commented on the game’s length, stating that he has played around 160 hours and hasn’t even come close to seeing everything it has to offer.
Furthermore, Hines stated that the game’s ambition is much greater than any other title they’ve created before, as it gives the impression that there are numerous different games within it, and it’s up to the player to decide how much time they want to dedicate to each different activity.
Starfield will officially launch on September 6th for PC, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. Those with early access to the game can start playing it next week on September 1st.
