In its first weekend, it has managed to be the third most important premiere in the United States this year and the biggest opening for a musical adaptation in history. In the country alone, it has achieved 114 million dollars, but this number is far from what it has achieved outside the US: 50.2 million. Although it has not yet premiered in all countries, it is clear that Wicked (and the Wizard of Oz in general) is a phenomenon practically unique to the US, and despite being a success, it does not have much capacity to transcend beyond.
