It is the most anticipated game of 2024 for Xbox, for many reasons. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is Phil Spencer’s great hope to boost Xbox sales and the number of Game Pass users. The bet is total… but not in the technical aspect.

In an interview with the German publication GamePro, the game’s visual effects director, Mark Slater-Tunstill, confirmed that the game will only run at 30 frames per second and with dynamic resolution scaling on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

Although this is very disappointing, the 30 FPS limit seems to be the price to pay for the game’s stunning visual effects, although Slater-Tunstill believes it will make the experience more cinematic.

The good news is that, according to GamePro, this may not be a big issue for the game, given its slow and heavy gameplay.

30 FPS are the toll for hyperrealistic graphics

In an interview with IGN, the creator of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II also spoke about the Unreal Engine 5, which he said is incredible and has allowed the team to create new narrative elements, new special effects, and much more.

The real-time nature of all lighting has also allowed for illuminating many of the special effects, making everything in a scene fit much better than in the past.

The switch to Unreal Engine 5 also allowed for a more realistic representation of physical objects, costumes, etc. We were told that the fifth iteration of the Epic Games engine would be insane. And now we can start to see the results.
