We are on the verge of a release that any Tolkien lover would deem interesting. Because, let’s be honest, it doesn’t seem like this game centered around Gollum can generate the same level of hype as Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor did.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum GO

Today, we’re going to talk about The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, a game with a relatively modest budget developed by Daedalic Entertainment and published by Nacom.

We will cover all aspects of this video game, including its release, how to download it, delve into the story plot, and see what the press has to say about this upcoming release.

How to download The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

Depending on the console you have, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be available for download on Xbox Series, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It will be playable on both current and next-generation consoles.

If you have a PS4 or PS5, you can download the game from the PlayStation Store. For Xbox users, you can purchase it from the Microsoft Store. Nintendo Switch users can find it on the eShop. PC users can pre-order it on Steam.

Additionally, you may be able to download the game from platforms like Softonic or through the provided links or cards. However, please note that once downloaded, you will still need to purchase the game to play it, as with other platforms.

What is The Lord of the Rings: Gollum about?

Developed in parallel to the events described in the first book, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is an action-adventure game that offers an epic interactive experience.

You will step into the shoes of the enigmatic Gollum on his perilous journey to uncover how he outwitted the most powerful characters of Middle-earth.

Having survived dangers that most would dare not speak of, Gollum is driven by the singular desire to reclaim what was stolen from him.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum GO

Although Gollum’s desperate mission is a central part of J.R.R. Tolkien’s created lore, it has never been told in detail. This makes The Lord of the Rings: Gollum a potentially captivating experience for die-hard fans of Middle-earth.

For the first time, players can follow the forgotten story of Gollum, offering an incredibly faithful adaptation of the books. From his escape from Mordor, where he eluded the Mouth of Sauron and the demonic spider Shelob, to the dungeons of Thranduil, the Elvenking and father of Legolas, Gollum has embarked on numerous adventures and encounters throughout his extraordinary journey.

After being corrupted by the Ring for hundreds of years, Gollum has developed exceptional agility and keen wit. Utilize his unique abilities to explore and infiltrate legendary locations and perilous heights.

Sneak among orcs as you climb the dark tower of Barad-dûr and elude the elves in the mysterious Mirkwood Forest.

While Gollum may not excel in direct combat, he is more than capable of swiftly dispatching an unsuspecting enemy when the opportunity arises… or finding a more creative and less risky way to escape a tight spot.

Review of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

We’ll have to wait for the embargo on reviews to be lifted on Metacritic. There are still two days left before the press can share their thoughts on this new original adventure from Nacom.

From an outsider’s perspective, based on gameplay footage and trailers, it doesn’t seem like a game that will please everyone. The story seems promising, but visually, it appears to be a title from around ten years ago…

It’s possible that we may be pleasantly surprised and that the game proves to be fun and challenging as we spend more time with it. However, at the moment, we’re not confident that it will be a contender for the Game of the Year in 2023.
