During the past 2022, Bethesda mentioned that in 2023 we would receive an update for the new generation of consoles, that is, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S (and also PC). With only three weeks left to close the year, and no signs of the update being released, Bethesda has had no choice but to issue a statement.

“Thank you for your patience as we work on the next-generation update for Fallout 4,” the text begins. “We know you’re excited, and so are we! But we need a little more time and hope to return to the Commonwealth by 2024“.

This update will include new performance modes where frame rate and quality will be improved up to 4K resolution, fixing numerous bugs, bonuses in the Creation Club, and much more. Now, why hasn’t this update been released after a year? The culprit is one: Starfield.

The mega-production from Bethesda, which has broken records, has taken all the resources of the studio. Pete Hines himself, retired head of publishing at Bethesda, already said that the whole team was focused on the special adventure. Therefore, there was no time to dedicate to other projects that, logically, are less urgent.
