Hitfilm aims to be an all-in-one video editor, compositor and VFX creation suite, and does quite well. Edit video, do 2D and 3D compositing, place 3D models in your video and create advanced particle systems using a powerful physics system or fractal displacement. Express is free (but can "add-on" more FX modules for a fee). Pro comes with all the optional Express modules and other exclusive features. For Vegas Pro editors, you have can send media from Vegas to Hitfilm for VFX and the Hitfilm filters will render in Vegas, a bit like Abode's Ae/Premiere linking.

Direct 3D model import, lighting, 2D tracking, green screen, nested comps, timeline editing . . . pretty much everything you can do with AE at a fraction of the price (and no subscription model). They also offer a Free version called Express that does almost everything Pro does. It includes the editor and compositor less some plugins. More

This is a great program for making visual effects. It is very fast and supports many different kinds of files (more than 100!). However, I am typicallymore familar with Apple products, and this program is Windows only. For the moment, there is no Mac version available, so I cannot use it on my primary computer, which is a Mac. I am not a developer, but my best friend is, and this is one of his main tools in his developer toolkit. More

boujou 5 allows you to solve complex shots and to step in and work directly with the data. It has a unique way of solving which radically accelerates your results, solving more shots in less time. Take the headache out of matchmoving. Two clicks and the majority of your shots can be matchmoved automatically. No manual tracking required, saving you time and resources. boujou 5 works through a frame by frame comparison, enabling the user to intervene as needed and making the entire process significantly faster than reviewing the entire shot before delivering a solve.
