In these times when many services and applications offer trial periods or free subscriptions for some time, it is essential to remember that, once these promotions end, the service will start charging its usual fee. If we enjoy the service, we will want to keep subscribing to it, but if not, we should cancel the subscription before the trial period ends.

How and when to cancel trial subscriptions

Modifying a subscription is very easy and we can do it on our iPhone or iPad. Keep in mind that, as these subscriptions are managed at the Apple ID level, the changes we make will be reflected on all our devices, including the Mac and Apple TV. In any case, first of all, let’s access the subscriptions section, these are the steps:

  1. We open the Settings app on our iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap our name at the top.
  3. Go to Subscriptions.

Note here that the subscriptions in question are divided into two categories: Active, which we are currently using (regardless of whether we are paying for them or not), and Expired, which are no longer operational and are not reflected in the applications responsible for them.

In this case we have to focus our attention on active subscriptions. Note that for each subscription – let’s take the recently expanded Twitter Blue, for example – the duration of the subscription is indicated, which can be monthly, yearly, quarterly, etc. Below this information is the renewal date, the date of the next charge.

If we want to unsubscribe from the service, the steps are very simple. All we have to do is tap on the subscription we are interested in and tap on Cancel trial period.

There are several things to keep in mind here. During a subscription that we have paid for, when we cancel its renewal, we continue to have access until the date of the next renewal (where we will not renew). Meanwhile, in the case of trial subscriptions, canceling the subscription means losing access immediately.

Therefore, if we want to use and test subscriptions, but not pay for them, the best thing to do is to check the renewal date, subtract a couple of days to make sure, and note that date on the calendar, so that we can then carry out the process.

While artificial intelligences begin to create applications, thanks to subscriptions we can test full functionalities within applications before deciding whether to invest in them. A great advantage that, yes, requires us to be aware of when, if we wish, to cancel the trial period. A very simple process, as we have just seen.
