Shanks is one of the most beloved, respected, and cherished characters by the viewers. From the very first episode, he appears as the noble pirate, true to his spirit of freedom, inspiring Luffy to embark on his own adventure. But as the story progresses, he gains even more prominence and power.

As the current Yonko with the highest bounty, Shanks doesn’t make frequent appearances, but when he does, it’s always with spectacular scenes that make it clear he is one of the strongest characters in all of One Piece. Up until now, his origin has been a secret, but Chapter 1086 of the manga may have changed everything.

Shanks’ father revealed?

In the episode in question, One Piece introduces a new character: Saint Figarland Garling. He is the current Supreme Commander of the God Knights and was the former King of God Valley. Although we don’t have much information about this character, we can imagine that he possesses tremendous power. However, what catches our attention is his surname, which suggests a connection to Shanks.

In the movie One Piece Film: Red, some clues were explored regarding Shanks’ identity, and there was speculation that he might be a Tenryubito, a noble protected in this world. When Uta, the “villain” of the film, appears, the Gorosei considers eliminating her but refrains from doing so when they believe she is Shanks’ biological daughter. It is at this point that they mention they cannot interfere with the Figarland family.

Later in the movie, it becomes clear that Uta is not Shanks’ biological daughter. However, it is evident that Shanks belongs to the Figarland family and, therefore, is a Tenryubito. With the introduction of this new character, we could potentially be looking at Shanks’ father or at least a member of his family. This further expands the legend surrounding the Red-Haired Shanks.
