The Polish developer The Farm 51 has officially announced a sequel to its successful survival horror game, Chernobylite, released in 2021. The new title, titled Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone, promises to elevate the experience of the first game, incorporating role-playing and action elements in a post-apocalyptic world, which combines free exploration, challenging combat, and management of teams and bases, all while presenting a non-linear narrative.
Following its announcement on IGN, the game’s Steam page went live, giving players a glimpse of what they can expect. Although specific platforms for its release have not yet been detailed, it is expected to be available on both PC and consoles, likely on PlayStation and Xbox systems, given the company’s history.
The first Chernobylite received mixed to positive reviews. Many players found the title intriguing, but with certain aspects that could be improved. This type of reception suggests that the sequel could address the weaknesses of the original, focusing on the innovative ideas that captured the players’ attention.
Initially, it would arrive this same year
Although a specific release date has not yet been established, The Farm 51 has hinted that Chernobylite 2 could hit stores in 2025. With the saturation of planned releases for that year, it is crucial for the studio to choose a strategic release window that allows them to stand out in a competitive market.
With this announcement, fans of Chernobylite can hold their breath, hoping that the sequel refines the formula of the original game and offers a more polished and immersive experience in the unsettling world of Chernobyl.
